Old houses, long drives and very large trees. Bolingbroke removals are the careful kind.
Bolingbroke is a small historic community in southern Monroe County, just north of the Bibb line. It's an old settlement — houses here go back well into the 1800s — and the character of the place is long tree-lined drives, deep lots and hardwoods that were planted when the houses were built.
Trees that old are a different kind of job. A hardwood with a century and a half behind it is enormous, structurally complex, and usually standing close to something irreplaceable. Decay at that age is routine rather than exceptional, and it is almost always on the inside where nothing shows from the ground. Taking one down beside a house that predates the Civil War is slow, sectional work — and it's the kind of job where hiring on price alone goes badly.

"JC and his crew did a great job getting the massive tree that fell during the storm. They were very helpful and worked hard to make sure myself and my neighbor were happy with the end results, and all of my property — trailers and fence — that were buried by the tree were protected while they worked. Will use JC's Tree Service again!"

"JC and his team took down 60 or so dead and dying eastern cedar trees between 30 and 50 feet tall. They cut, hauled and cleaned up all of the trees and under-brush in one day. I have used JC before and both times the work was excellent and his fees were very reasonable. He is my tree guy!!"

"The clean up after 7 tree removals was outstanding! It looked like there were never any trees there."

What Bolingbroke property owners ask us most.
Yes, and it's exactly the kind of job to plan rather than rush. Nothing gets felled — the tree comes apart from the top in small sections with anything over the structure lowered on a rope. Older houses are less forgiving of impact than modern framing, so the pieces stay small.
Often you can't from the ground, which is the problem. Signs worth a call: mushrooms or shelf fungus at the base or on the trunk, a hollow sound when you knock it, bark shedding in sheets, large dead limbs in an otherwise full crown, or carpenter ants working the trunk.
Sometimes, and we'd rather. Reducing weight on a heavy limb, deadwooding, and taking out what's genuinely failing can buy years on a tree worth keeping. JC will tell you honestly when that's realistic and when it isn't.
