Tree Removal

Some trees are too big, too close, or too far gone to simply cut down. Those are the ones we get called for.

When a Tree Is Too Big to Just Cut Down

Middle Georgia grows big trees. Water oaks and willow oaks that have been shading a yard for sixty years, loblolly pines running eighty feet or better, pecans with limbs reaching clear over a roofline. When one of those has to come out, there is usually nowhere to lay it down.

That is the job we handle. A hazardous tree isn't just a big tree — it's a big tree with no safe drop zone, or one that's already lost its structure: split at a crotch, leaning harder every season, roots lifting the ground on one side, or hollow enough that nobody can be sure which way it wants to go.

When a tree can't be felled in one piece, it comes down in pieces. The crew works from the top down, taking limbs and sections in a controlled order and lowering what needs lowering, so the tree comes apart over the driveway, the fence, the deck or the neighbor's roof without any of it getting touched.

JC's has been doing this work across Macon and Middle Georgia since 2022, and we're BBB Accredited with an A+ rating. If you've got a tree you're uneasy about, call or text JC and send a photo — he can usually tell you what it will take before anyone drives out.

What Makes a Tree a Hazard

A big tree in an open field is a straightforward job. The same tree twelve feet off a bedroom wall is something else entirely.

🌳

No Room to Drop It

Trees over houses, driveways, fences and power lines can't be felled in one piece. They come down in controlled sections instead.

⚠️

Already Failing

A split crotch, a widening lean, heaving soil at the base — a tree that's lost its structure doesn't fall where it's supposed to.

🚚

Height & Reach

Our bucket truck puts the crew up where the weight actually is, instead of working the whole tree from a ladder and a rope.

🧹

Hauled Off Clean

Limbs, rounds, and every bit of debris leave with us. The yard gets raked before the trucks pull out.

Waiting Costs More Than Removing

A hazardous tree does not get safer with time. Decay keeps moving, the lean keeps going, and every storm that comes through Middle Georgia puts another load on wood that is already compromised.

The difference in cost is stark. Taking a tree down on a planned Tuesday is ordinary work. Taking the same tree off a roof at two in the morning after it has come through the ceiling is an emergency job, a roofer, a ceiling repair, and an insurance claim — and you still pay to have the tree removed on top of all of it.

There's also the part nobody thinks about until it happens: a tree that falls onto a neighbor's property is frequently your problem, particularly if it can be shown the tree was visibly dead or damaged beforehand. A tree you already knew about is a much harder thing to call an act of God.

If you aren't sure whether what you're looking at is actually dangerous, that's a fine reason to call. JC will tell you straight if a tree can wait — plenty of them can, and we'd rather say so than sell you work you don't need.

What a Removal Includes

Every large tree removal we quote covers the whole job, start to finish — not just dropping the tree and leaving you with it.

  • Stump cut low, or ground out if you want it gone
  • Full debris cleanup and a raked job site

Large & Hazardous Tree Removal FAQ

How do I know if my tree is actually dangerous?

A few things are worth a closer look: a lean that's gotten worse, a crack or split where two big limbs meet, mushrooms or conks growing at the base, soil lifting on one side of the trunk, large dead limbs in the crown, or bark falling off in sheets. Any one of those is worth a call. Send JC a photo and he'll tell you whether it needs attention now or whether you've got time.

Can you take a tree down that's right against my house?

Yes — that's most of what this work is. When a tree is tight to a structure it comes down in sections rather than in one piece, with limbs lowered on ropes instead of dropped. It takes longer than felling a tree in an open yard, and the price reflects that, but it's how the house stays untouched.

What does a large tree removal cost?

It depends on the size of the tree, what's underneath it, and how much room the crew has to work. A big pine in an open back yard and the same pine wedged between a house and a fence are very different jobs. JC gives you a free written price before any work starts, and that price is the price — we don't add to it partway through.

Do you handle the stump too?

We can. Removal gets the tree down and the stump cut low; grinding the stump out is a separate step we'll price alongside it so you can decide. Plenty of people take the tree now and the stump later, and that's fine — just know that a ground-out stump is what lets you put grass or a bed back over it.

How long does it take?

Most single large removals are a one-day job. A tree that has to be worked down in small sections over a roof takes longer than one we can section quickly into an open yard. JC will tell you the expected time when he gives you the price, so you know what the day looks like.

Do you work on weekends or after a storm?

We answer the phone around the clock for storm work and anything unsafe. If a tree has come down or is actively threatening your house, call — don't wait for Monday.
